Tuossa Juha-Matin ohjeessa alkoi askarruttaa tuo tallennusmuoto "embed... but do not apply". Koska on kyseessä TIFF -tallennus, otin tuon Stackerin käyttöön ja yritin katsoa sen helppiä tarkemmin...
Siellä DSS:n FAQ -osiossa sanotaan näin:
"Where are saved the post-processing adjustments settings in the TIFF files?
The settings are stored as private TIFF tags. It is a documented feature of the TIFF file format. On the other hand if you overwrite the file with software other than DeepSkyStacker, the private tags will be removed and the settings will be lost.
What is the difference between applied adjustment settings and embedded adjustments settings in the TIFF file?
When the adjustment settings are embedded the picture stored in the TIFF file is the picture without any modification as it results from the stacking process. The settings are included so that the next times you open the TIFF file in DeepSkyStacker you can continue to work from where you stopped.
This option is useful if you want to continue to post-processing later using DeepSkyStacker or if you want to do all the post-processing with another software.
When the adjustment settings are applied, the picture stored in the TIFF file is the one resulting from applying the settings to the picture resulting from the stacking process. It is the picture as you see it in the processing tab."
Tärkein on kai lause: "When the adjustment settings are embedded the picture stored in the TIFF file is the picture without any modification as it results from the stacking process" eli "kun säätöasetukset (tallennettaessa) upotetaan (embedded), TIFF -tiedostoon tallettuu kuva, jossa ei ole mitään (ohjelmassa tehtyjä) modifikaatioita mukana, vaan se tallennetaan sellaisena kuin se tuli pinoamisprosessista ulos".
Manuaalissa sanotaan asiasta myös seuraavasti:
"Saving the resulting picture
DeepSkyStacker can save the resulting image as 16 or 32 bit TIFF or FITS files using two methods::
- by applying the adjustments
- by not applying the adjustments (but storing them in the case of the TIFF file in order to continue the post processing the next time the image is loaded by DeepSkyStacker)."
Eli olennaista on ilmeisesti se, että jos valitsee tallennusvaihtoehdon "embed ... do not apply", kuvaan ei tule näkyviin mitään niitä muutoksia, joita siihen säätimillä DSS:n ikkunassa tehdään, vaan ne tallettuvat TIFF -formaatissa asetustagina. Näin kuvan voi ladata uudelleen DSS -ohjelmaan, ja jatkaa sen prosessointia siitä mihin jäi (DSS lukee tagista asetukset avatessaan kuvan, mutta kuvan voi yhä palauttaa takaisin pinottuun muotoon koska tagi on vain ohje ohjelmalle niistä asetuksista, joita kuvalle edelliskerralla tehtiin).
Kun kuva sitten avataan jollakin muulla ohjelmalla ja talletetaan, asetustagi ei ilmeisesti jää voimaan vaan kirjoitetaan yli.
Selittäisikö tämä sitä, miksi Poksun kuva ei näytä samalta toisella ohjelmalla? Jos tuo ohjelma ei osaa lukea TIFFin DSS -tagia, se ilmeisesti näyttää kuvan sellaisena kuin se tuli pinoamisvaiheessa näkyviin?
