Don P. Mitchell on kerännyt historiallisesti kiinnostavan saitin venäläisten Kuuluotainten ottamista kuvista.

Kuvasarja alkaa Luna 3:sta, joka lokakuun 7. vuonna 1959 otti ensimmäiset kuvat Kuun meille näkymättömästä puolesta. Noin vuoden päästä tulee tuostakin tapahtumasta pyöreitä vuosia!

Viimeisimmät kuvat saitilla ovat Luna 24:n näytteistä. Tuo 18.8.1976 laskeutunut luotain oli toistaiseksi viimeisin ihmisen lähettämä laite, joka laskeutui pehmeästi Kuuhun.

Laite porasi 2,25 metrin syvyyteen Kuun kamaraan, ja toimitti Maahan 170,1 grammaa painava, 1,6 metriä pitkän ja halkaisijaltaan 8 mm porausnäytteen tutkittavaksi.

Saitilla kerrotaan luotainten kameratekniikasta ja esitellään paljon mm. panoraamakuvia.

... aiemmin ketjussa mainittu Alan Chu'n valokuvakirja Kuusta (Photographic Moon Book) on päivittynyt (tammikuun alussa 2009) versioon 3.3 (PDF, koko 15 Megatavua). Lataaminen kestää, mutta tulos on vaivan arvoinen!

          - Relabeled T112 (Map 2), T105 (Map 6), T114 & T187 (Map 10).
          - Updated Farside & Spacecraft page.
                       - Added geologic text to some prominent features, 233 pages."
