Tulin (en pelkästään PI-benchmarkin takia  ) päivittäneeksi sen aiemmin mainitsemani hitaan ja rauhallisen viime vuosikymmeneltä olevan SSD:ni 960 pro:hon ja ajaneeksi samalla vaivalla PI-benchmarkin ennen kuin taustalla oli taas N kappaletta muita softia ajossa, joten laitetaan nyt tännekin parantuneet lukemat:

Nyt alkaisi taas olemaan kunnon pöytäkoneella käyttöä syksyn mittaan, mutta tuli sekin annettua kummipojalle pelikoneeksi käytön puutteen vuoksi...

Kun muut niin minäkin. Kellottamalla sais varmaan kymmenisen prosenttia lisää, mutten tiedä milloin ehdin säätämään CPUn kelloja ylöspäin. Levynä Samsung 960 Pro. Kokeilin myös emolevyvalmistajan Boost-ohjelmalla laittaa päälle Storage Speed Boostin päälle ja Swap-perffi putosi yli 100MiBps.

Kun tuli päivittäneeksi tuota tietokone-rautaa, niin piti tutkia hiukan myös tuota PI:n swappausta.
Oma kokoonpano on hitusen hitaampi kuin tuo Antin i7-8700K @ 3,7GHz ja täällä on puolet tuosta Antin 64 GB muistista.
Tuoreimman PI:n Benchmark testi antoi nyt tällaiset lukemat (kiintolevynä WDS500G2X0C, link):

Vaikka luulisi, että SSD:n nopeus ratkaisee tuossa asiassa, niin se ei kuitenkaan pidä täysin paikkaansa.
Vastaus löytyy tuosta liitekuvasta eli tarkistakaapa kuinka moneen kertaan sama(t) swappi-kansiot kannattaa lisätä tuonne PI:n kansioluetteloon

Kasasin uuden ryzen 3700x koneen x570 emolevylle. Kaikki ei ole vielä optimoitu, mutta lupailee ihan hyvää suorituskykyä.

Tuli viimein hankittua uusi läppäri, panostin sen verran hankintaan että jaksaa varmasti vääntää PI:n kanssa. Benchmarkin mukaan ero vanhaan Thinkpadiin on luokkaa huomattava:

Läppäriltä todella hyvä suoritus!

Ei valittamista. 

Mutta aika selvä ero silti kun vertaa 3700X:ään, vaikka 4750 on kait aika pitkälti sama prossu (ainakin jos katsoo corejen määrää ja taajuuksia). Läppäri vaan asettaa rajansa sille kuinka kovaa sillä voi puskea. Sain siitä irti hieman paremman tuloksen kun väänsin vielä Win10:n puolelta Power moden Best performanceen, CPU:n arvo nousi vähän päälle 10k:n.

Mutta mun PI tarpeisiin enemmän kuin riittävä. En viittisinyt ostaa toista konetta keräämään pölyä niitä harvoja hetkiä varten kun PI:lle on käyttöä.
