Nikon D700

Joo, ollut jo myynnissäkin vähän aikaa. Eli sama kenno kuin D3:ssa, mutta n. puolet halvempi. Jos/kun halpenee vielä hieman, niin lähtee mukaan.

The ability to produce usable results at such high sensitivities makes the D700 the camera of choice for any photographer who is having to deal with challenging light conditions

Dynamiikka:

As we've mentioned above the D700 offers significantly more than the usual stop of RAW headroom.
When you flatten the tone curve and make proper use of the large pixels' light gathering capabilities you get just under 2 extra stops.
Just as on the D3 the ability to pull back both shadow and highlight detail is incredibly impressive, as demonstrated by the examples below.
No doubt the D700's performance is in the same ballpark as the D3's and with some careful processing you can get an impressive amount of additional highlight and shadow detail in your images.

There is surprisingly little channel clipping here and as a result you're not being troubled by color casts in recovered highlight areas.
At the dark end of the tone scale (lifting shadows to deal with under exposure) you'll also get pretty good results at lower ISO settings.

Herkkyys:

The D700's most obvious strength though is its high ISO performance (which again is very similar to the D3's).
It's the combination of the huge photosites on the full frame sensor and Nikon's very sensible approach to noise reduction
(heavy-handed on chroma noise and much more lenient on luminance noise) that lets you (within limits) take usable pictures up to a sensitivity of ISO 12800.
The ISO 25600 setting might be a slightly dubious compromise in terms of image quality but at the very least you can keep shooting at minimum light levels.

Aika hyvin näkyy noin lyhyellä valotusajalla... Haluaisinpa nähdä vastaavan 30 sekunnin valotuksella... (vink, vink)

Omistin D3:sen jonka vaihdoin sitten D700:seen... ja voin kyllä suositella d700.sta... on se vaan Kamera! Iso1600 herkkyydellä voi paukuttaa vaikka tunnin singlevalotuksen ja ei tarvitse kohinasta murehtia.

Ja vieläpä kohtuu pimeällä f2.8 obiskalla.

netissä on näkynyt D3/D700 kameroilla otettuja kuvia pidemmällä polttovälillä... ja niitä on tullut kyllä kuolattua. Pitäisi vaan olla se seurantajalusta.
